🧼 How to wash and care for your nursing garment to make it last longer

Clothes that stay with you day after day... and wash after wash.

Why is this important?

Nursing clothes are often among the busiest items in your wardrobe: worn daily, exposed to milk stains, washed very (very) often. And yet, they're often your favorites. At 23MaiParis, our pieces are designed to last, but good care makes all the difference. Here are our tips for keeping your nursing clothes soft, beautiful and comfortable... for a long time.

1. 📖 Read the label (yes, really!)

Each garment has its own particular needs, depending on the material used: organic cotton, soft viscose, stretch jersey...

At 23MaiParis, we prefer quality fabrics that respect your skin and your baby's. To preserve these materials, read and follow the care instructions inside each piece.

💡 Good reflex: If in doubt, always opt for a delicate wash at low temperature.

2. 🫧 Gentle washing: your best allies

To prevent your clothes from getting damaged too quickly, we opt for softness:

  • Wash cold (or at 30°C max)
This is enough to clean without damaging the fibers.
  • Choose a delicate cycle
Less friction = less wear. Ideal if your garment contains elastane or fragile details.
  • Use a mild detergent with no harsh fragrances
Perfect for sensitive skin and safe for babies.
  • Turn garments inside out before putting them in the washing machine
This preserves colors and prevents pilling.

👶 And for the first few weeks with baby, remember to wash your clothes separately from those of the rest of the family if you use a special baby detergent.

3. 🌬️ Drying: the natural way

It's tempting, but the tumble dryer is no friend of nursing clothes.

  • Avoid tumble-drying unless indicated on the label.
  • Air dry, preferably flat, to avoid distorting the fibers.
  • Avoid direct sunlight to preserve colors.

🧺 Time-saving tips: gently wring out by hand in a towel before hanging.

4. What about stains?

Ah, the joys of leaking milk, regurgitation and applesauce landing everywhere...

Our natural tips :

  • Marseille soap: gently rub the stain before washing.
  • Baking soda + warm water: leave for 15 minutes before rinsing.
  • No bleach or harsh stain removers, especially if baby is skin-to-skin with you.

🔁 It's best to treat the stain quickly, before it sets in with each wash.

Conclusion: a little care for a lot of comfort

Taking care of your nursing clothes also means taking care of your comfort, your confidence, and that everyday companion that is your wardrobe May 23.
With a few simple gestures, you'll keep your favorite pieces as good as new, ready to follow you through all the adventures of motherhood... and beyond.

And if one day you want to pass them on to another mom, they'll still be there, soft, pretty and full of history.
